TX FAME Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT)

The TX FAME Alamo Chapter AMT program allows individuals to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Advanced Manufacturing Technology through St. Philips College Southwest Campus or Palo Alto College, while working for a TX FAME Alamo Chapter employer. In this two-year Department of Labor registered apprenticeship, individuals attend classes two days a week and spend the remaining three days at their sponsoring company.

Individuals must both apply and be accepted to Alamo Collegesand a TX FAME employer for the duration of the manufacturing apprenticeship program. TX FAME Alamo Chapter employers have the flexibility of upskilling incumbent employees through this program or interviewing and bringing on an external candidate.

What Students Can Expect

Students attend classes on certain days of the week at St. Philip’s Southwest Campus while working the other days of the week at a sponsor’s facility for a competitive wage while gaining hands-on experience.

Working hands-on, has always been my favorite type of learning I can’t just sit there and read a book and get it. I’m actually going to college and then learning at the same time and putting into work here. It was a great experience. I was able to pick it up a lot faster.
